It was a great May Day on Friday! Thank you to all who set up, cleaned up, worked a shift, donated baked goods, contributed to raffle baskets, and helped in so many other ways. The list of May Day raffle winners is included in this week's email, as well as a message from Mrs. Mingey!
We are lucky to live in a community that provides many opportunities for our families to be involved and have fun. Be sure to check out the COMMUNITY NEWS section of this email to find information about some great events and programs coming up. Hilltop Civic Association is sponsoring a FREE movie night. Rita's Water Ice is, once again, the site of a fundraiser to support a third grade student at Coopertown Elementary who has Eosinophilic Disorder. Additionally, you'll find a link to the Haverford Education Foundation's Summer Academy which offers a variety of courses for your child to participate in over the summer months. Also, don't forget to read about the summer music program. This is a fabulous opportunity to get in some music lessons with great teachers at a great price over the summer. Enjoy your week!

A MESSAGE FROM MRS. MINGEY
"This has been quite a wonderful school year here at Lynnewood with so many benchmarks...The Walkathon, Halloween, Young Writer's Day, Pajama Day, Souper Bowl Week, Family Fun Nights, and on and on...But for all of my years at Lynnewood nothing has ever compared to May Day...and wasn't this a glorious one?
At about 2:00 pm, I was standing at the office window with some of our teachers and thought out loud about the amazing organization and community that we get to be a part of. I hope all of you stopped for just a moment on the field...looked around... listened...and felt...the joy and positive spirit that comes from being a member of this powerful Lynnewood community.
Children enjoying each other, enjoying each game, and enjoying that sandy candy...animated, laughing, energized. And all because our PTO came together and offered their talents, their creativity, and most importantly, their time! Every single child out there will NEVER FORGET their May Day and that is because of all of you that took the time to make it happen!
Thanks to all of for your positive commitment to our school and to our kids.
This day...and all you do to support all we do...is appreciated and applauded!"

Brendan is a third grader at Coopertown Elementary who has Eosinophilic Disorder. He likes hockey, basketball, and soccer, but LOVES baseball! Because of his illness Brendan can't eat most foods. His body rejects food, thinking that it is a parasite. Make plans to come to Rita's on Eagle Road on May 16 to support Brendan and this very important and worthwhile cause. 6 ABC's David Murphy, WIP sports talker Glenn Macnow, WMMR's Casey, DJ Tommy Tunes, and other celebrity scoopers will be on hand serving up your favorite Rita's treats! Most importantly, a portion of the night's proceeds will go to The Pediatric Center for Eosinophilic Disorders at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. So, mark your calendar and come out to Rita's to support Brendan and Children's Hospital. (Since Brendan loves the Phillies, wear RED!)
